Principal's Message

Welcome To Fieldcrest Intermediate School! Our goal, as a district, is to be dedicated to an innovative, rigorous, 21st Century education that encourages and challenges every student to reach the their full potential.

In addition to the district goal, our faculty and staff are committed to two building goals that we are working towards over the next two years:

FIS will demonstrate Faculty and Staff buy-in to a building-wide PBIS program to support student SEL needs- We are working towards this goal by utilizing a building wide House System, loosely based on the Ron Clark Academy. In addition to "catching kids being good", all four houses meet once a week for 30 minutes to celebrate the good things our peers are doing at school but also to discuss challenges that face students at FIS.

FIS will develop a system of consistent evidence based interventions and benchmarks for RtI- We have made A LOT of progress towards this goal. We have added a Reading Specialist to our faculty as well as adjusted the schedule to allow for two 30-minute universal RtI blocks at each grade level.

As our faculty and staff work towards these goals, I challenge our Parents/Guardians to do the following:

Get your child to school every day.- Our attendance goal for the 19/20 school year is 96%. We are well on our way with 1st Trimester attendance topping out at 96.5%.

Call your child's teacher and thank them.- Our professional and highly motivated staff often stays in the building well past 5pm to prepare quality instruction for your child. Please call, email or stop by to thank them for all they do.

Be present and get involved- Come eat lunch with your student. Volunteer for classroom holiday parties. Join the Fieldcrest PTO. Attend after school events and concerts. I challenge all parents/guardians to come to the building at least twice this year and see all the good things we have going on at FIS!
